Why you should vote for Ben Davies

I live in Great Missenden, my children go to local state schools and my wife was born in Holmer Green. I want to see the seat properly represented – at the moment we have an MP who did a flit from her home in Amersham and tried to make being sacked by David Cameron appear like a matter of principle.

I want to be Chesham and Amersham’s MP because I believe in public service. I’ve been a Labour Party member since 1989 because I believe in social justice, in education, in the NHS. Our rail network should not be in private hands – I want it properly invested in and working for all the people who want to use it. That’s why I’m against HS2.

I’m strongly in favour of individual liberty and human rights – but we achieve these things only by working together.

From 1998 until 2009 I was a political journalist – first as a trainee at the Press Association then at the BBC as a political reporter and as editor of newstatesman.com.

These days I work as Head of Communications for a large global NGO. I have also had a spell working for a newspaper in Abu Dhabi and as managing editor for Amnesty International’s Global Secretariat. I’m strongly internationalist and in favour of British membership of a reformed EU.
